Shop with a Hero Sends Students Shopping with Lakeville First Responders
Shop with a Hero is an amazing event put on by the Lakeville Public Safety Foundation every year. Local students are paired up with Lakeville law enforcement and fire fighters to shop for the holidays.
Once the students are paired up, they receive gift cards to the Lakeville Target to purchase holiday gifts for their families and themselves. It is a great way to connect and create relationships with the police officers and fire fighters of our city. After they go shopping, they get their gifts wrapped and then enjoy a meal from Ole Piper and Culver’s!
Did you spot Sparky, McGruff, Santa, and Mrs. Claus? You could find them taking photos with the students (and adults!), passing around hot chocolate, and getting everyone in the holiday spirit.
This event is fully run by volunteers and donors. The first responders are all volunteering their time to make the holidays brighter for these students. There are also volunteers to coordinate the meals for the students and volunteers to help wrap the gifts. Jeff Belzer’s sent a few of their employees out to wrap gifts and they had a wonderful time!
Jeff Belzer’s Chevrolet was a Platinum Sponsor of this event to help fund the students’ shopping. We were also honored to present a check to the Lakeville Public Safety Foundation as a part of the Chevrolet First Responder Program. Every year, Chevrolet chooses to support first responder organizations, and the Lakeville Public Safety Foundation is always our organization of choice for the incredible work they do within our community.
2024 marked the 9th year of this event and we’re excited to see what next year brings! Thank you to the Lakeville Public Safety Foundation, Target employees, fellow volunteers, and especially our first responders for all you do for our community.
